Doncaster City Football Club are an English amateur football club based in Doncaster who compete in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division North.[3]
History
[edit]The club was established in 2022 by agent Willie McKay,[4] and were initially placed into the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior Football League for the 2022–23 season,[5] in which they were crowned champions of Division Two. However, they withdrew from this league after one season and instead joined the Central Midlands Alliance for the 2023–24 season.[6]
They received national attention following a request to participate in the Scottish Cup, attempting to exploit a loophole arguing that Doncaster was a part of Scotland as the Treaty of Durham, which gave the city to Scotland, was never officially withdrawn.[7] The club again reached national news in February 2024, after registering former international players Ross McCormack, Charlie Mulgrew and Wes Hoolahan.[8]
Ground
[edit]Doncaster City currently groundshares with Armthorpe Welfare.[9]
